Air-spore-trap sampling
A short-duration sample captures airborne particles at one place and time. Indoor findings may be compared with an outdoor reference and other selected areas when that comparison fits the question.
Question-led mold sampling
There is no single mold test for every property. The useful method depends on the concern, water history, accessible evidence and what the customer needs to decide.
Describe your concernThe main options
A short-duration sample captures airborne particles at one place and time. Indoor findings may be compared with an outdoor reference and other selected areas when that comparison fits the question.
A tape lift collects material from a selected visible surface for direct microscopic examination. It documents that location but does not describe concealed areas or the entire building.
A swab can collect material from a selected surface or shape that is not suited to a tape lift. The receiving laboratory's accepted medium and method control the collection process.
Sometimes the water source and visible condition already support the next practical step. A no-sample assessment can avoid laboratory cost when a result would not change the decision.
A defensible sampling decision
Record leaks, flooding, condensation, odors, visible change and prior work.
Review agreed accessible areas and document moisture, humidity and visible conditions.
Name the decision the customer could make differently after receiving laboratory data.
State what the selected sample cannot represent, rule out or determine.
Read results in context
Results are interpreted with sample location, weather, ventilation, activity, moisture observations and the agreed scope. A short-duration sample cannot prove that concealed growth is absent or diagnose a health condition.
